Christopher Hansard:[What do you believe you are?]
The challenges that life brings to us are often confusing and overwhelming
yet if we look beneath the clamour of our minds and reactions to each situation
we can find an answer, and often it is in how we identify with our problems
and what we believe about our problems and how our fears of survival overtake us.
It is about the identity we make in order to handle hardship and challenges.
who are you when times are hard?
Ask yourself this question.
Look to the inner self the self that is not attached to outcomes and to challenges
but look to the great lesson of letting go
letting go brings wisdom and the freedom from the false identity that comes from
believing that you are your failures or your successes.
stop and pause
what do you believe about who you are?

Christopher Hansard:[ Is]
Softly comes the hand of time
to sort the actions of your life
and place them in a a pile from which
you choose the path to tread
beyond words or thoughts
beyond right or wrong
the experience
lasts the span
of eternity
for even eternity
comes to an end
when you give up
all these concepts
all there is,
is you,
your lifeforce
and the universe
and the rest
is up to you
all there is
is you
your lifeforce
and the universe
and that is within you
cultivate your Self
cultivate your life force
and the universe
grows
and becomes as you become
and that is how things
are
for all things
‘Is’
and so are you
all there..
within,without
beyond everything
‘Is’

Christopher Hansard:[Kindness]
The kindness that you seek in others
can be found within yourself
the kindness that you are afraid of receiving
will wait until you are ready to receive it
waiting close by like a fathful friend
there is kindness everywhere
if only you stop to see
kindness is the source of community
and of healing and understanding
if you seek wisdom, knowledge, spirituuality
first develop kindness
and you will find all other things accrue naturally
kindness needs nothing but itself
and is everywhere waiting to shared

Christopher Hansard:[ Ever Since Heaven Made Cutbacks..]
Ever since Heaven made cutbacks on its budget
the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
have had to take public transport
(it was mentioned at a policy meeting that they would lose the Public Relations impact)
and gender issues have arisen so
now they are known
as the Four Horsepeople
of a Possible Near Extinction Event
Political Correctness
was invented by the Devil
who attends
an anger management group
for the dammned
run by
an angel that used to be a social worker
and no one understands
the strategy he has planned
a thousand proclaimers
warn the people of things
to come
but do not look
at the ancient teacher
beneath their feet
I was asked once ,
‘what do you believe?’
My reply was and is
‘I believe in the eternal that dwells in the human state,
the movement of consciousness
of clear light and slowness
of the everchanging
and the unspoken path
that dwells in every being
that lives in the ten worlds
and beyond,
in the simple
and the profound’
having found my answers unacceptable
confusion reigned
its natural
Political Correctness
is political control
it is surveillance
of the individual
without the cameras
The time will come
when even an atheist will be
crucified for such a belief
a hindu and a jain,
a buddhist and a druze
a christian and a communist
will all be held in contempt
of the state
it is said the devil is in the details
he once told me that he is just misunderstood
and god feels like that too
well, i said both of you are just
bit players in the drama of time
both of you concerned
with political correctness
but then both of you are related
devil and god
but both of you forget
that life is not about the outcome
but the attempt
there is no fall or rise
no sanctuary or prize
the spirit is self realising
and that is the
only truth and deities, leaders
and those who want control are terrified
of that, of
the story tellers and the poets
the magic people and the inbetween walkers
the mountain holders
and stone collectors
they do not conform
to the supermarket stacking
of political correctness
I have seen the face of war
and know the haunting
rush of meaning as it trickles with the blood
in dying moments
people see the truth
of their own divine humanity
and reject
all constraints
as they look
into the clear light
and go beyond the whisperings
of gods or politicians
to ride the note of a flute
to their true home
only to stay awhile before returning

Christopher Hansard:[ The Age]
When the history pages turn from age to brown
and crack and moth eaten fade
when the internet hits critical mass and explodes seeping
from the virtual world into the world of the everyday
and the pollution of the cyberspace
is a virus that no doctor can cure
when the last coin is fought over
as money loses its meaning
and people lose the art of dreaming
will you cry for what has gone ?
will you recall the art of tears
or the art of thinking, or the art of feeling?
for this will be in a time
when everyone is a anything
a time of observation
and a thing observed is a thing changed
it will be not the age of science
or the attempt at reason
but the age of statistics applied to democracy
both, which, are questionable in their own right,
differing greatly from liberty and individuality
or from the use of numbers to plan for the benefit of others
the world will hold its breath for as long as it can
a single collective intake from Djibouti to Tokyo,
Moscow to Peoria, Vancouver to Argentina
the time will come for a soulquake of humanity
not registered on any richter scale
and in that time
the art of being
will bring the balance
and the unity

Christopher Hansard:[Mortality]
What delicate strains of sadness hang in the clouds
like threads of silk plucked on the notes of a Lute
what single tears that fall holding an entire world?
a friend of friend had a heart attack
mortality came and slapped him on the back
mortality
came
and in the melody
of rainfall upon wind upon the sea upon the breeze
there is a slow wave in everything
a quiet tusnami of becoming
where the colours, scents and dreams
of mortality fall and flitter
you know this
you have seen it
felt it and maybe tried to shut it out
call out to mortality
feel it in the rain
or the memory of your breath in the winter
when you were a child
are you brave enough to be so again?
mortality
is the thing that people fear the most
and they confuse it with death
and hitch them both to the same post
death is honest and does not pretend
mortality takes on any form
and delays the end
in order that the wise can catch a glimpse
and breathe in the timbres of mortality
and the colour of life, birth and breath
do not delay the mortal lesson in your daily life
celebrate the illusion and it will reveal to you
the sight of reality
everything falls away, mortality takes it
and moves it on
breath in. breath out
can you smell the rain in the air?
feel the clouds scudding the wind?
do you recall your footsteps from childhood to now?
the dance of forgetfulness
is found in the fear of living
become a lover of mortality
and then life shows you the cycles of eternity
breath in, breathe out
listen, taste, touch
know

Christopher Hansard:[ Stop and See]
When troubles come to meet you
and you feel alone in the inner night
and the world is upside down
stop and see the darkness
and know that in every night
a sun will rise and stars will leave their blessings
just before the Dawn
the magic of the inner change is
to be found in that inner time
when dawn’s first light
illuminates the
contours of the soul
and your psyche
stretches from its sleep
and looks towards the light
and breathes in
the rejuvenating force of change
Stop and see the darkness
it is never there for long
the fear within you
garners time and weaves
it into belief
stop and see the darkness
it is
illusory
changing
evolving
towards
light

Christopher Hansard:[Life is not a Race]
Life is not a race
to be won or to be endured
it is a path that walks its own way
in the long torn clouds
that caress the Rockies
to the mists in the valleys of Lebanon
to the hedgerow birds
of Devon lanes
to a heart attack
in a time of rest
Life is not a race to be won or endured
Life is a trace of love and consciousness
and if you walk in the flow of Life
your love and consciousness amplifies
its scent is as
wildflowers
in a soft summer breeze
in the greatest catastrophe
there grows a wildflower
after the earthquake
the blossoms
return to bloom
find how your life flows
and walk in its current
know the Life within you
and the rush to win
to fight to conquer
fades
and Life will show you
what you need to do
to turn obstacles into success
and despair into joy
each of us can walk the path of Life
and know the inner self
and see the gift that lives
in each and every one of us

Christopher Hansard:[ The Weather Forecast]
A man once asked me to teach him how to control the weather
‘you can’t control the weather, only your Self’
he was not happy with the answer
we can only work with the natural way of things
not control it
if we seek to control it
we create the situation where we must leave
our home
weather reports are not that reliable
that is why control of others or things
other than yourself is unreliable
and against the natural way of things
we make the weather and the weather makes us
controlling the weather is about controlling others
working with the weather is about working with yourself
the weather is a state of mind
it is within you

Christopher Hansard:[The Beauty in Everything]
There is beauty in everything
in all that we are made of,
in the most fearful places
where our distress has choked out hope
there is beauty
in everything
beauty of the everlasting truth
when your shame turns to anger
and your anger turns to tears
there is beauty
in everything
in the most noblest truth you have ever held
to the most fleeting deception
there is beauty
in everything
the beauty dwells
in the human experience
connecting
creating
continuing
the path
of wonder
that dwells
in the beauty of everything
