Christopher Hansard:[ The Age]
When the history pages turn from age to brown
and crack and moth eaten fade
when the internet hits critical mass and explodes seeping
from the virtual world into the world of the everyday
and the pollution of the cyberspace
is a virus that no doctor can cure
when the last coin is fought over
as money loses its meaning
and people lose the art of dreaming
will you cry for what has gone ?
will you recall the art of tears
or the art of thinking, or the art of feeling?
for this will be in a time
when everyone is a anything
a time of observation
and a thing observed is a thing changed
it will be not the age of science
or the attempt at reason
but the age of statistics applied to democracy
both, which, are questionable in their own right,
differing greatly from liberty and individuality
or from the use of numbers to plan for the benefit of others
the world will hold its breath for as long as it can
a single collective intake from Djibouti to Tokyo,
Moscow to Peoria, Vancouver to Argentina
the time will come for a soulquake of humanity
not registered on any richter scale
and in that time
the art of being
will bring the balance
and the unity
