thriving upon outrage and rage

upon distress and redress

humanity has surged

to find meaning

the shoving of the ego

and the ranting

of dissatisfaction

have created

opportunities

for understanding

but at what value

or lasting meaning

when all the institutions of mankind

have crumbled

the mountains

will still be there

and the echoes

of  the

‘once was’

will drain away

into the vast basin

of space
