Christopher Hansard:[ time is what you make it]
so you feel trapped by time…
there is not enough
you are running out of time
or
there is all the time in the world
or time waits for no man (or woman)
time is a mental construct
so that the everyday mind
can make sense of the bigness
and smallness of things
time gives dimensions
to the world in which you live
however,
time is what you make,
it
like,
life an opinion…
of how illusion is best understood
and made comfortable for a few
fleeting years
time is what you make it
time begins and ends
now

Christopher Hansard:[ where]
where
are the thoughts
that you thought were you
the beliefs and causes
the promises and strident values?
where…?
were they there?
or were they there made from fear?

Christopher Hansard:[ when grace is found]
when grace is found
within the pockets of your life
stop and know
that grace found you
it comes to you uninvited
a gentle cast of chance
for grace is but
the universe’s glance
upon you for a moment
takeĀ the time to be in grace
and grace shall always be in you

Christopher Hansard:[ the world of]
transcendent
simple
constant
is there when you need it
which is all your life
welcome
to the world
of your breath
and follow
its cycles

Christopher Hansard:[ consider how]
consider how
the clouds float by…
do they do that for you
or for the sky?

Christopher Hansard:[ life]
Life can be like a small street in a big city
on every side there are cheap cafes
as you walk up the middle
you are assailed by
waiters demanding that you eat
the question is
will you believe that you are hungry because of the calls
or are you hungry and if so where will you stop to eat?
the answer is to eat only that which comes to you without duress or clamour
life can be like a lane full of hawkers all plying their wares

Christopher Hansard:[ healing]
If you search for healing
you will find the nature of your condition
that causes you illness, pain or dissatisfaction
if you search for healing the journey is often long and hard
if you stop, but just for a moment,
to be at rest with whatever may be causing your distress
then healing will come, taking you by the hand
will point to where you must go
to complete the cycle so that your
body mind and life
all become involved
in the healing
you wish

Christopher Hansard:[ suffering]
How do you suffer ?
Do you let the pain and challenges of your life define who you are?
Do you believe that you and your sufferings are the same?
Suffering is in the very building blocks of the every day world
it is a linchpin
on which the laws of the universe
find a fulcrum into which to move
yet when you discover that you are
not your suffering
or the events in through which your sufferings took place
then you will discover that
you
are
free from suffering
even though suffering takes place all around you
and by that then you can be
in the world of suffering and partake in all the blessings of this planet
yet offer your wisdom to ease the suffering of others
not every one suffers in the same way
but like love and hope
joy and freedom, suffering is part of our human experience
and each of us must learn
the way to be with allĀ that it brings

Christopher Hansard:[ joyfulness]
joyfulness
is found
in the quiet
and the simple
the humble and the rough hewn
it delights in its own delight
and casts no shadow but radiates
light
as the sun does
but unlike the sun
lasts beyond and through all time
long after that great star
dies and burns to cold
