Christopher Hansard:[ Biocide]
what is the history of a landfill
diapers long lived
each of them tells a story
a ‘she’ who died tragically young
but her diaper lives on
her parent’s are gone
but the diaper lives on
‘he’ becomes a leader of nations
garners grand acclaim
dies in celebration of a worthy life
but his diaper lives on
what of our trash
and refuse,
what of our thoughts
and imagined refuge
all of this leading to biocide
embalmed faeces
wrapped in plastic
in landfill
over a view
for future
archaeologists, anthropoolgists too
for they will dig
and scurry
and wonder
at why we buried
our poo
so deeply and with reverence
its because of
consumer malfunction
and the loss
of responsibility
landfills everywhere
are our legacy
sad and yet true
